Grooming a Rottweiler — what's actually involved
Rottweilers have a short, dense double coat — a coarse outer layer and a softer undercoat. It looks low maintenance, but the undercoat sheds year-round with two heavy moults per year (spring and autumn) where the volume of loose hair is considerable. Regular brushing significantly reduces the amount ending up on your furniture and clothing.
Unlike a Cocker Spaniel, a Rottweiler needs no scissoring, clipping, or professional groom. Everything can be done at home with the right tools. The essentials are a good slicker brush, a grooming comb, quality shampoo, nail clippers, and an ear cleaning routine. That's genuinely all you need.
